Apple kicked off WWDC 2022 — its annual developer conference with a host of announcements for all its major operating systems. For iPhone users, Apple gave a glimpse into what to expect with iOS 16.
iOS 16: Key features
iOS 16 brings an all-new lock screen. Apple calls it the “biggest” update to the lock screen. For the first time, the font style of the Apple clock on the iPhone can be changed. Users can personalise it as per how they want it to look. Users will also be able to add widgets to the lock screen. Be it calendar, or fitness tracking, users can add widgets. iOS 16 will bring notifications rolled up from the bottom. A new feature called Live Activities on the lock screen.
Focus mode also gets new updates with the lock screen. Users will have the choice to choose a lock screen in accordance with the Focus mode.
iMessage: iPhone users will have the option to edit iMessages. Apple is also bringing the undo message feature to iMessage. Further, users will get the choice to mark an iMessage thread unread.
Family Sharing: iOS 16 will make it easier for parents to set up new devices for their kids with parental controls in place
iCloud Shared Photo Library: iPhone users will get to create a new shared photo library on iCloud with their family members. Users can add up to 5 members in the Shared Library
Privacy: Safety Check is the latest feature, which will allow users to restrict access to location and certain other information with others.
